One of the most important pieces of equipment you might need in the event of a nuclear explosion is a gas mask. There are various masks available, and various types of filter to fit them. Because the filters will eventually become blocked and/or contaminated, they are designed to be easily removed and replaced. There are two common types of connection – the 40mm ‘NATO’ connection (also known as ‘DIN40’) and the 3-pronged bayonet connection used by the company ‘3M’.
One common problem is that although masks with bayonet connections are easy to obtain and often much better priced than their NATO counterparts, it is often difficult to find a suitable filter cannister for protection against radioactive particles. This has now been solved with the launch of the Radsafe bayonet-to-NATO adaptor. This precision-made adaptor is made of robust plastic and has extended lugs for easy application, even when wearing thick gloves. We have extensively tested prototypes during the covid pandemic, and we’re very happy with the quality, so these have now been added to our product range.
